International Women's Day: Meet Aureja Jupp

In the lead up to International Women’s Day, which is taking place on Saturday 8th March, we will be sharing some of the stories of our fantastic female colleagues that are part of the Wells & Co. family.

How long have you worked at Wells & Co?
I started working at Wells & Co in November 2024.

Can you provide a brief overview of your role?
I am a Brewery Operative. My role includes maintaining a safe and efficient working environment as well as overseeing day-to-day activities to achieve production goals. As a Brewery Operative, I play a crucial role in maintaining safety protocols, operating machinery across the brewery, ensuring effective quality control and fostering a culture of problem solving, continuous improvement, and customer consciousness.

What do you enjoy most about working at Wells & Co?
As a Brewery Operative, I enjoy the opportunity to be hands-on with the brewing process in a company with such a strong heritage. The variety of tasks, from raw material handling to overseeing fermentation, processing, and packaging, keeps the role engaging and allows me to continually develop my brewing skills in the commercial setting.

What did you do before joining Wells & Co?
I spent the past six years working in smaller-scale breweries, where I gained hands-on experience in all aspects of brewing. I also achieved a Level 4 Brewer's Apprentice degree from Nottingham University, passing with distinction.

Have you had any training or development since joining the company? If so, can you provide a brief overview of what the training was and how it helped?
I have only been with the company for three months. So far I've had training in a few areas of the Wells & Co brewery. The training has strengthened my understanding of large-scale brewing equipment, quality control procedures and process efficiency. Coming from a smaller-scale brewing background, this experience has been valuable in expanding my skill set.

What are your career goals for the next few years? What would you like to achieve?
I aim to progress into a senior brewing role where I can contribute to innovation, process improvement, and high-quality beer production on a large scale.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2025 is Accelerate Action – can you tell me what that means to you?
To me 'accelerate action' means being proactive, efficient, and solution-focused.
